Oklahoma City, OK – Hands to Guide You is pleased to announce that Larry Ford, DBH, LBHP, Founder & CEO of Hands to Guide You was selected by The Becoming:  Health and Wellness, who is a Center of Excellence (COE) of the official national counseling service provider for the Hall of Fame Behavioral Health (HOFBH.)

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has created Hall of Fame Health to undertake healthcare initiatives that would impact the lives of former football players and our communities across the country.

Hall of Fame Health seeks to play an integral role in shaping healthcare services and benefits, pioneering innovative new business ventures, partnering with industry leaders in various go-to-market strategies, coordinating game-changing research, and raising funds for those in need of financial assistance or services.

When asked about his new role Dr. Ford noted, “It is a great honor and privilege to serve athletes from all walks of life, their families, and the communities where they live, work and play.  It has been my philosophy from the start:  Whole person care begins with mental health.  Without mental health, there is no health.  On and off the field – stress occurs.  In and off season, life happens.  Nurturing physical, mental, and emotional (good) health requires a delicate balance between varying situations and ever-evolving circumstances.  We are here to help athletes achieve that balance.”

The Becoming Counseling and Wellness is the official national counseling provider for Hall of Fame Behavioral Health (HOFBH). They have been deemed a Center of Excellence (COE) and attempt to uphold those standards.  Their approach is simple – to match clients with a preferred provider; licensed clinicians or coaches so clients may spend their time focusing on self-care. Practitioners have specializations in EMDR, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Addiction and Codependency, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Experiential and Trauma focused therapies, Expressive Arts, and Health and Wellness approaches.

The football community is relatively small, and mental wellness initiative is gaining traction.  Individuals can reach out through the Concierge Call Center, word of mouth or The Becoming Counseling and Wellness direct phone line.  When a call is received, a phone screen is completed, and the client is told that a therapist associated with The Becoming will reach out to them shortly.  If financial assistance through HART is needed, this process is worked out during the phone screen.  For more information on The Becoming Counseling and Wellness visit https://thebecomingcounseling.com/.  To view the Hall of Fame Behavioral Health video, click here.  The theme is “You Are Enough”.
